    Situation

It has been estimated that 90 per cent of children who have experienced abuse receive no substantial support. Our work is unique because of its child centred approach, driven by the Society’s 120-year history in child protection. Rather than using a medical model of therapy, the NSPCC uses approaches such as non-directive therapy to empower the child and allow them to come to terms with their abuse in their own way. In this way children can communicate through play therapy, integrative arts, group work or individual counselling.
