    Situation

In 2005/06 the NSPCC's Children's Rights and Independent Visiting services supported 490 of the most vulnerable children being looked after by local authorities. The service promotes children’s rights, enabling the views of children and young people to be heard and taken into account. This ensures that councils make their services safer and more child-friendly. Advocacy projects provide independent and confidential advice and advocacy to those children and young people who are, were or should be looked after by the local council. Advocacy work happens on a one-to-one basis with children.
