    Situation

In 2008/09 the Orchestra, in collaboration with Lambeth City Learning Centre, will deliver two special projects with primary school students in Lambeth and Southwark. In a series of workshops the children will explore Berlioz’s 'Symphonie Fantastique' and Britten’s ‘Four Sea Interludes’ and will create their own pieces of music and animated film in response to the themes and story behind the works. They will be supported and inspired by musicians from the Orchestra under the guidance of a highly experienced workshop leader and will perform their compositions in public at the Royal Festival Hall, prior to the Orchestra’s concerts in January and March 2009. To ensure that cost is not a barrier to participation, neither the schools, nor the students will be asked to pay anything to take part. As the Orchestra does not receive public funding for this or for any of its education projects, we ask for your support to help us make this programme possible this season.
