    Situation

These creative workshops run in 27 participating schools each year (nine schools per term). Two sessions occur during the two weeks leading up to each School’s Concert and two after the children have had their concert experience. The workshops are run by a specially trained workshop leader accompanied by two London Philharmonic Orchestra musicians who have received special education training. As well as preparing the pupils for the music they will hear at the Schools Concert the workshops also encourage composition, the playing of instruments, listening to music and the relationship of music to other art forms. The last of the four workshops is structured in the shape of a mini concert to which the remaining pupils in the school are invited. To ensure that cost is not a barrier to participation, neither the schools, nor the students will be asked to pay anything to take part. As the Orchestra does not receive public funding for this or for any of its education projects, we ask for your support to help us make this programme possible this season.
