This campaign has now closed

Having been donated the land for our nursery school build in Farato we now need funding for the build of 4 classrooms and a teacher's office. We are endeavouring to start this build this year (2010).

    Situation

This is run by a wonderful lady called Buya Bah who has given her time effortlessly to get the young children off the streets and into education. This school has 2 very small 6m x 3m classrooms, each holding around 35 children. These classrooms are rented at around a cost of 600 dalasi (£17) per month but with only 20% of children paying school fees it has been very difficult for the school to continue effectively. Karmic Angels have helped to sponsor the school by paying for 15 orphan children to have their education paid for for the next 12 months (March 2010 to March 2011) Now, however, thanks to a gift of land (due to the persistence of Karmic Angels), donated by the VDC (Village Development Committee) for the permanent use of the nursery school, plans are now in the pipeline to build 4 classrooms, provide the underground pipes and standpipes for the school’s water supply as well as for the entire village (around 5000 people will now have water – WOW!). New toilets and perimeter fencing for the safety of the children and the school are also included. The total cost of the project will be in the region of £25,000. During 2010 the classroom build cost will be in the region of £9,500.
