Village Africa wants to raise £9000 to make 450 desks for 3 primary schools in Tanzania in East Africa. For every £20 donated, Village Africa will make a desk and plant two trees - 1 timber tree and 1 cash crop (eg cloves). The desks are combined desks and seats to accommodate two children.

Situation
There is a shortage of desks and many children have to sit on the floor which can be dusty or muddy depending on the weather. This affects their concentration and handwriting. There is also a shortage of timber for desks in the future when the population grows and when desks need replacing. Cash crops will help to pay for materials that need to be bought to make desks, eg nails, wood glue, wood varnish and tools.
Solution
Reaching the target will mean there are sufficient desks for all the pupils in 3 primary schools. Planting trees means that there will be timber and cash in the future to make more desks.
