Grade 2 listed community building at risk of closure if we do not complete urgent repairs to enable us to remain open. We are a multi use community centre & Theatre and church venue. We will be increasing accessibiity to all as part of our heritage restoration and revival project.

Situation

Our grade 2 listed community venue is at risk of closure due to urgent repairs to the windows, roof, masonry. We are the only multi use independant run multi use community venue in Hastings which consists of community centre, art cafe, theatre and conference centre. The public need this service to continue. Hastings has a lot of people needing an accessible, open, inclusive venue that will continue to provide social engagement and support to everyone who wishes to engage with our activties.

Solution

1) The stonework will be repaired,windows - restored and roof repaired & wooden structure restored. Making the building water tight. This will securing the safety, usability of the building for at least the next 200 years for the use of future generations. Improve wheelchair & disabled access to first floor and improve the toilet facilities on 1st floor and gallery. Improve the emergency lighting, refurbish both community kitchens, install hearing loop system and brail signs to increase access.
