Situation
The Deptford, London a sub-urban is a deprived area of multi-cultural and ethnic mixes. We already provide clothing and food and also social inclusion to elderly and disabled people in Deptford. Because of the background and living conditions of the people who we serve we have decided to train our staff in providing independent advocacy to adults, computer literacy. We aim to educate about 70 diasbled and/or adult learners every year in computing skills and about 140 in two years. The goal is to capacitate them to be able to do online enquiries on council, tax and social services by themselves to minimize travels and to enable the development of self esteem and awareness. The project will involve building the capacity of our staff to help the marginalized and deprived and illiterate in this community. The project would involve training essential staff over a 1 year period. Estimated Total Budget for the initial 2 year period is £93,230 and for the projected 5 years completion period is about £250,000. -This includes Dementia Awareness courses for 6 staff at £2,190 -Introduction to Advocacy for 6 staff at £2,100 -Computer Literacy for 140 disabled adults at £84,000 -Providing Independent Advocacy to Adults training for 6 staff costing about £3540 - CIEH healthy eating and special diets education for 4 staff costing £1400
