The overall aim of this project is to empower 175 rural women in 5 villages of Sanguie Province, through providing necessary skills for active participation in community. The project provides literacy courses using REFLECT methodology that links adult learning to empowerment, strengthening the voices and capacity of the most marginalised groups to advocate for themselves.

    Situation

Knowing how to read and write in an illiterate society will increase women’s confidence. Improved practical skills will pave the way for their active participation and leadership in their community. The project at the same time aims to improve women’s income through vocational training and income generation activities. Reflect scheme, which teaches functional literacy and trains people to access information and demand services is a three-year project and we are in the 2nd year of the project. Objectives will be achieved through capacity building, participatory, and right-based approaches. The project will have at least 3,500 indirect beneficiaries including the immediate families of the women and the local communities. UGF/CDN (Union Groupements Féminins/Ce Dwane Nyee), our Burkinabe partner will directly implement and manage the project.
