    Situation

The Silver Cinema project aims to meet the need to get older housebound and/or isolated people on the Isle of Wight out into the community for enjoyment, stimulation and socialising. The Isle of Wight is a popular retirement place and we have a high ratio of elderly people making it an ongoing task to combat social isolation and exclusion. Also, 23 of our wards are amongst the most deprived in the country. The objective is to counter disadvantages of the elderly by providing them with a much needed break from their home and giving them the opportunity to reminisce over old films with others of their own age.
