    Situation

Like the majority of the areas in Kenya, the Lewa projects experiencing the 5th warmest year since 1850 and the severest drought in more then 40 years. Nobody can tell how long this drought will last we can only hope that the Lewa projects' current water resources (which include a water reservoir built by Bread and Water for Africa UK) will be enough to take them through this period. If the situation becomes worse, the Lewa projects might even have to purchase water to keep the children well-nourished and at least some of the livestock alive. Bread and Water for Africa UK is trying to raise £10,000 before the 1st of February in order to provide the Lewa projects with the emergency relief that they need to make it through these trying times. Monies will be used to purchase water for the children of the Lewa Children's Home and Kipkeino School as well as the livestock on the Baraka Farm. Donate today and help us fight this crippling drought!
