Solution
Neuroacanthocytosis is a group of hereditary neurodegenerative diseases that are very rare, but offer some unusual clues that may reveal the cause of brain cell death. Patients inherit one mutated gene that seems to be the cause. Inaddition, the unusual "spikey" red blood cells suggest cell membranes are associated with the problem.
