For more than 10 years the people of Hawarden in North Wales have met on a sponsored walk through the Bilberry Wood to the “Spinning Wheel” pub to support research into neuroacanthocytosis and epilepsy. This year I am joining them on Saturday, May 15. I have been promised help from the local rugby team to make the “walk” by wheelchair. The Spinning Wheel is about half way along. I would love to see you there! Alex Irvine If you can’t make to north Wales on the 14th, please help me to support the research that will eventually help us alleviate neuroacanthocytosis. Your support will mean a lot to me.

    Situation

We need to support the research of a doctor in Verona, Italy who is trying to learn what causes the death of brain cells. She has been studying the spiky red blood cells that are characteristic of neuroacanthocytosis patients to find how they differ from normal cells in the hope of finding clues to that will lead to an understanding of how these differences affect brain cells. We need £18,000.
