    Situation

    Wet Woodland is a priority UK Biodiversity Action Plan habitat, which by its very nature is found in small fragmented blocks and/or in linear corridors that can form a transition into grassland with its own particular flora. These woodlands can be difficult to access and more difficult to manage than traditional farm woodland and are therefore often overlooked for conservation action.

    Solution

    We will initially assess and identify what is required to restore, reconnect and manage wet woodland in Dorset and then go on to deliver a programme of habitat creation and improvements. • In phase 1, we will identify key areas of Wet Woodland along the Upper Hooke, Piddle and Frome river catchments, gather data on the characteristic species of Wet Woodland and identify and begin to engage key landowners. • In phase 2, we will continue to advice landowners on suitable management and gr
