We all have fundamental needs - namely what goes in must come out! We aim to use nature's own complex natural systems to turn our smelly human waste into something visually attractive and sweet smelling.

    Situation

Brockholes Wetland and Woodland Nature Reserve at Jct 31 M6 is a magical mosaic of Lancashire's habitats encompassed on one easily accessible site. The development will utilise 'state of the art' technology at our visitor centre and will provide a memorable day out for all the family. With environmental considerations at the forefront of all our thinking we wish to install The Living Machine effluent treatment system - an ecologically and financially sound method of waste water treatment. It consists of a series of tanks containing items of interest (plants and fish) which use the mysteries of natural processes and energy from photosynthesis to turn our waste into crystal clear water. That is modern day alchemy for you.
