Situation

A quarter of the world’s population live in countries affected by conflict and none of these countries has yet achieved a single millennium development goal. There is growing recognition that local peacebuilding is one of the most effective ways to reduce violence and build safer, sustainable futures. Yet local peacebuilding groups still do not get the support they need and deserve. Largely this is because outsiders do not know of their existence or how to contact them.

Solution

Insight on Conflict provides an online accessible link between grassroots organisations and interested outsiders. The site profiles over 500 peacebuilding organisations in 18 regions around the world – about half of whom don’t have their own websites. It acts as an invaluable network for peacebuilders to share expertise and introduces these dynamic organisations to outsiders. Our blog promotes discussion and debate on peacebuilding issues.
