KIDS provides home learning support for over 150 families in London alone, we are looking to build a toy library where support workers can easily access a variety of toys used to help teach disabled children basic skills which others may take for granted.

    Situation

Home Learning is an early education intervention programme for disabled children aged 0-5 that recognises parents as the main educators of their child. KIDS home learning workers tailor each programme to the individual child's needs, with visits on a weekly or fortnightly basis. The activities these programmes are based around use toys and equipment, which aim to help the child reach the next stage of their development. Once the home learning worker has visited, toys and equipment are left for the family to work with during the week/fortnight. Toys help children develop essential skills through play, such as their sensory motor skills, encouraging interaction which helps with social development, confidence and self esteem, and the opportunity to develop their creativity and imagination. Different toys help with different aspects of a child's development and by having a toy library with a wide variety of toys available to all KIDS London Home Learning workers and the families they work with KIDS would be able to help disabled children develop a variety of important skills which would make such a difference to their future. Any donation towards this project would be appreciated but £5k would enable KIDS to buy a full toy library to support the 150 families it works with in London.
