    Situation

The area has been surveyed and not only revealed parts of this region to be home to wild orangutans, but also to large number of other rare species, including proboscis monkey and river dolphin. In areas without significant populations of wild orangutans, it is hoped that we will find habitat suitable for the release of up to all 200+ rehabilitated orangutans currently cared for at Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation’s Samboja Lestari and Wanariset projects. Meanwhile, the Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation has also identified an area for ecosystem restoration concession in East Kalimantan which shows excellent potential for the safe release of rescued orangutans. Orangutan Land Trust is committed to helping BOS to succeed in this endeavour. Please contact the charity for a full prospectus.
