The minibus is the lifeline between residents and the outside world. The average age of our residents is currently 87 and this is steadily increasing - as a consequence many are frail and don't get out much on their own.

    Situation

Public transport in the area is sparse and inaccessible to the frail and elderly. Older people often face isolation within their own community and consequently are not able to get out as often as they would like to. We want to provide companionship and fight loneliness by taking advantage of the light summer evenings for drives along the coast, or visit the Christmas lights in various nearby towns as well as trips to local National Trust Properties for afternoon tea or a country tea rooms!

    Solution

A minibus service will provide a vital lifeline to the outside world - helping to keep them active and most of all giving stimulation and something to look forward to.
