    Situation

On average, an estimated 850,000 people in the UK are chronically lonely and whilst this is a daily issue, Christmas heightens concern for older people living alone who do not see anyone over the festive period.

    Solution

To help combat the increasing trend in isolation over the Christmas holiday period, Abbeyfield is opening its doors to older people who are alone or who might be lonely. Those who join us are offered free meals or overnight stays and a chance to enjoy our company and join in with our festivities.
