    Situation

Older people cared for full-time by family or friends in their own homes often don’t have a chance to get out on their own to socialise, learn something new or enjoy a meal out. Often carers, would appreciate being able to get out to go shopping or to an appointment or just have a break knowing that all is well. We want to encourage those who live in nearby sheltered housing schemes to visit regularly to take advantage of our activities and to combat loneliness, promote happiness and well-being.

    Solution

The project will provide 76 apartments and 24 hour support with access to a wide range of communal facilities to enhance health and well being, tailored to those with higher care needs. The 'hub' is crucial to the delivery of the project as it will also form a resource for the wider community running in partnership with the groups from the local voluntary sector as well as other local stakeholders
