    Situation

The Training Officer’s role has been to develop and oversee a programme of Playwork and Management Training courses to meet the needs of local childcare providers, in turn supporting the growth and development of childcare provision. The individual currently in post has been with the organisation for the past 9 years. The Training Officer has a wide range of relevant qualifications including; FAETEC Stage 1 and Stage 2, Assessor Qualifications D32 and D33, a certificate of education level 4, as well as completing numerous ‘Training the Trainer’ courses. Her skills have allowed BAND the flexibility to introduce new courses in line with members needs and seek endorsements to give participants nationally recognised qualifications, such as the Foundation and Senior Playworker Courses. BAND is requesting funds to secure the annual salary for the Training Officer. The current salary, including national insurance, amounts to £20,762 (grade 29). This post is for 28 hours per week. All BAND courses are free to childcare providers in the region, improving both the skills of playwork staff as well as ensuring childcare is of the highest quality for the children that attend those clubs.
