Climate change is one of the biggest challenges facing us today, and it’s essential that every community contributes to cutting carbon emissions. There are growing opportunities for community groups to develop community-owned renewable energy projects, such as hydro, solar and wind, and to generate income from these to benefit their local community. However, many community groups lack the experience, technical knowledge and access to funds to get their projects beyond the ideas stage.
Solution
CSE is an expert in community-scale renewable energy projects. The project will enable us to spend time with community groups who have the potential to manage successful community-led renewable energy projects in their local area. CSE will provide support and advice with project planning, finance and funding, technical feasibility studies, choosing the right technological systems for the local area’s geography and community, involving the wider community and navigating the planning process.
