This service offers free and impartial advice, information and assistance on a wide range of subjects relating to Autism. The service helps over 580 families each year, securing additional benefits averaging £400,000 for local families each year.

    Situation

    The service provides free and impartial advice, information and assistance on a wide range of subjects relating to autism including; * diagnosis * useful organisations * benefits * health issues * education issues including SEN (special educational needs) statementing (IPSEA trained) * behavioural issues * employment services * social care services. The service is available to individuals, families, carers and professionals. The service is offered by email, phone, letter and via surgeries across Dorset and Somerset. The service currently costs £45,000 per year to run, we wish to expand the service to help in neighbouring counties which would cost a further £45,000.
