    Situation

The floods in Pakistan have affected 1/5th of entire cultivated land of the country, killing more than 2000 people and making 20 million homeless. These floods have destroyed roads, bridges, school buildings, health facilities and telecommunication system in such a magnitude that the country has submerged into severe economic crisis. Recovery demands skilled humanitarian relief workers who will remain in Pakistan, and effectively and efficiently rebuild the community.

    Solution

RedR is currently in Pakistan delivering training in security management, coordination of humanitarian activities and humanitarian practice and principles. Over the next year, we aim to run over 50 training courses, training approximately 860 aid workers. At least 75% of participants will be from local aid agencies in Pakistan. By training local aid workers, we are building capacity and sustainability on the ground and leaving a legacy of improved skills and knowledge.
