    Situation

Of great concern is the number of children coming into the refuge that are listed on the Safeguarding Children register. Often, women in chaos due to domestic violence do not have time or emotional energy to dedicate themselves to their children's learning and development. Children may have to fend for themselves when there is abuse in the home. Add to that, the upheaval of having to flee your home to a refuge and the whole family relationship becomes chaotic. BWA involves the children and their mother's in the development of a support plan catering to the diverse needs of the children through activities that meet their particular cultural, religious, or ethnic needs. The objectives of the project are: * Reduction in the long term negative effects of domestic abuse on children's lives * Improved social, educational, leisure and health opportunities for children living at the refuge * Increased confidence in children living at the refuge * Improved relationships within the new family unit
