    Situation

The building is over 30 years old and the existing hospice bedrooms are small, outdated and all are without en-suite facilities. Patients' privacy and dignity is therefore compromised by the inappropriate location of rooms in relation to bathrooms and public areas. The rooms also lack disabled access which restricts patient mobility and reduces the efficiency of care delivery. The rooms also lack space to accommodate relatives overnight and do not create the uplifting environment required.

    Solution

The project will build an extension with six spacious purpose-built hospice bedrooms with ensuite toilet and/or shower. It will also reconfigure 5 of the old rooms that are no longer fit for purpose into three spacious ensuite rooms. All rooms will have disabled access and will capitalise on our unique location in the South Downs. Six rooms will have direct access to private patio areas and all will have good views of the surrounding countryside. Relatives will also be able to stay overnight
