Artsadmin offers bursaries to UK-based artists working at the cutting-edge of performance practices. The bursary offers invaluable opportunities to artists to create new work by offering a package of time, space, money and mentoring. They safeguard open-ended and invaluable creative freedom. We have raised £20,000 of our £30,000 target but now urgently need to raise the remaining £10,000 in order to run this acclaimed scheme again in spring 2010. “The artists are the ones who take the risks, push the boundaries, and constantly challenge our preconceptions. Our role is to help them do it.” Judith Knight MBE, Founding Director of Artsadmin www.artsadmin.co.uk

    Situation

We provide opportunities that make a difference; Artsadmin recognises that artists need dedicated time and space in order to research and create strong work, and offers development opportunities for artists including bursary and award schemes, mentoring, workshop programmes and a free Advisory Service. Artsadmin also manages Toynbee Studios; a vibrant hub of arts activities for all ages in the East End of London. www.artsadmin.co.uk The bursary scheme will offer up to 10 bursaries of £3,000 to early-career artists, selected through an open submission process. The bursary includes an opportunity to show work publicly and extensive support from Artsadmin’s team of advisors and producers. Our aim is to nurture the new generation of artists making exciting, engaging and challenging performance work. Artsadmin has supported over 150 artists with bursaries since 1998 and continues to work with many – including Anne Bean, Helen Paris, Mem Morrison, Zarina Bhimji, and Franko B. The scheme is highly regarded, with over 250 applications on average each year reflecting the demand for this source of support. “the open-ended strategy of the bursary scheme encourages a real creative freedom which has engendered a range of consistently high quality work over the years.” Helen Paris, artist “Artsadmin’s bursary scheme is essential to the ecology of support for artists in the UK” Amy Sharrocks, artist
