SInce 1996 Primary trauma Care courses have been held in ten African countries where trauma is a major killer. We urgently need to re-visit these and strengthen the local training systems we have established, and reinforce the training of our volunteer workers.

    Situation

PTC in Africa is led by an African doctor based in Africa. External funds are needed to provide him with secretarial support and travel facilities so that he can visit the PTC projects and conduct further training courses, as well as having discussions with various ministries of health. This will take around 3 years, and will help develop an increasing number of national PTC leaders able to teach life-saving skills to health personnel in their own countries, diminishing their dependence on overseas aid.
