Situation
We propose to add advocacy services for people with disabilities and there family and carers to our other activities. At the present time most of our clients are elderly and as a result younger people suffering from disability have not been included in our service, and we have not received any funding for this area of work, even though we have actually advocated for elderly people with disability in the past. We are satisfied that there is a very real need for advocacy for people with disabilities, this borough is very large and we have become aware of the failure of local authority services to look after the real needs and wishes the disabled community, particularly with regard to assistance with financial and housing problems, and nobody is helping with the real worries of disabled people and their carers about family and financial problems.
