We will transform the education for 3,300 children in Gitare, Kenya, where we have identified that help is urgently needed. We will work in partnerships with eight schools and communities to break down the barriers that are currently preventing these children accessing a quality education.

Situation
The barriers to education exist both inside and outside the classroom. • At home parents in Gitare are not always able to prioritise their children’s education when they are struggling to feed their families. • The schools struggle with dilapidated classrooms and latrines, and many children learn in unsafe temporary structures with no furniture. • Communities often lack the knowledge, skills and power to improve their local school, or access the resources to which they are entitled to.
Solution
Working with the cluster of eight schools in Gitare will allow us to help 3,300 children through numerous initiatives, such as: • Helping parents to earn a secure living, so they can support their children through school • Ensuring schools are safe and accessible by renovating and constructing classrooms and improving access to clean drinking water • Tackling discrimination within communities, helping girls and minorities overcome inequalities that prevent them from going to school
