    Situation

When young carers become 16 services for them change and they are very often forgotten. This can have a profound impact on their education, training and development, their ability to become an adult positively, the families’ income and their ability to leave home permanently or temporarily. We will work with the Careers and Employment services and High Education services, we will collaborate with a university to ensure evidence is gathered and is taken to the very top of the government agenda to ensure lasting change. We will provide quality training for health and social services staff to ensure this group is identified and provided proper family support. We will provide targeted information to ensure that the right kind of support and training is provided to sympathetic employers to increase employment chances and work closely with the other main carer charities. We will use new media to help support and signpost this vulnerable group of young carers.
