This campaign has now closed

We're a victim of our own success. 45 years since we opened our doors, our 10m visitors have taken their toll and our buildings now need substantial refurbishment and TLC to ensure we can keep going for another 45 years.

    Situation

Put simply, in just eigh months' time, we’ll have lifts, more loos, bigger foyers and much more art. And we’ll be greener and more energy-efficient too. There will be two brand new spaces – a rooftop dance studio, which will provide new facilities for our partners sampad, and a double-height gallery – and the café and bar areas will be increased by over 40%. We’ll nearly double the number of loos and install lifts which will link each of our buildings for the first time. We’ll also have a specially-commissioned entrance bridge across the River Rea to help improve physical access to our building and the park beyond, particularly for disabled visitors. And we’ll increase the amount and the range of educational work we undertake by building new media studios and learning rooms so that we can work with even more adults and young people. We also need to replace the heating and ventilation systems, and in doing so will make mac more energy-efficient and sustainable. Finally, we want to create new capacity for earned income through enhanced café, bar, and meeting room facilities. In short, we want to secure the future of mac for the next generation.
