    Situation

We will be focussing our training programmes on those groups of people for whom cooking is a mystery. Many young people today think fast food diets are acceptable for themselves and their young children without realising that it is cheaper and healthier to cook real food. Young care leavers and others have often not had the chance to even learn basic cookery skills at a Mothers side. We intend to offer the chance to learn safe, healthy cooking in a warm, welcoming environment. Older people often restrict their diets through forgetfullness or just not understanding how the microwave or toaster works: we will offer refresher skills courses to them. Our very successful carpentry project,Toolbox, which works with young people at risk of, or who are already excluded from school will also be replicated in a kitchen setting giving those youngsters that don't enjoy woodwork an opportunity to try cooking instead.
