As a consequence of the extreme poverty in Thamesmead our disadvantaged children and young people, rarely, if ever, have a summer holiday away from the area. Without Archway's intervention many of our 450 young members would have very little to do but roam the streets, join gangs and involve themselves in crime and anti-social behaviour. These behaviours being borne out of the frustration of having no purposeful activities to pursue.

By providing this project we offer our members a supportive and safe environment where they can become part of something exciting, dynamic, and structured for their enjoyment. They will be off the streets and therefore much less likely to become involved in crime or gang related activity. They will be provided with a proper meal which in some cases will have been shopped for and cooked by members.
