    Situation

For many of our terminally ill and life-limited children, sensory stimulation and play is a key element of the care and support we provide. Our current sensory room has limited space and needs to be updated. We are currently unable to meet the demand for this vital facility, or provide the full range of multi-sensory interventions that would benefit these children and their families.

    Solution

There is strong research evidence showing that multi-sensory play provides many benefits, especially for children with neurological disorders and other complex medical conditions. It can be used to increase a child’s awareness, coordination and sensory development. It is also a means of allowing children to take control of their environment and gain confidence, to communicate and discover, or simply find quietness and relaxation.
