We screen 800 films a year in over 100 village halls over Shropshire and Herefordshire and work with over 500 volunteers in rural areas. We need to invest in a new DCI projector which will make us more competitive and make us less reliant on public funding.

    Situation

two problems - expected funding cuts and a new emerging technology that commercial cinemas are now using. By using a new portable DCI projectors means we can get films the same time as cinemas, which will significantly increase our audience size and therefore income. At the moment we have to wait a minimum of 12 weeks after a film has come out in the cinema before we can screen it - so many people, who would rather see the film at a Flicks event, goes to the commercial cinema.

    Solution

By having this projector we will become self financing and not have a reliance on public funding. We will increase audiences, and therefore income, we will become self sustaining and be more competitive. So any threats of funding cuts will not bother us!
