The WLT provides funding for three NGOs in Ecuador which are involved in acquiring land for conservation of threatened wildlife.

A long-term strategy is involved, attempting to ensure that sufficient habitat is preserved to allow the rare and endemic birds, as well as other wildlife and flora to survive in Ecuador. Working with our partner NGOs a network of reserves, some of which have accommodation for visitors, has been created. Sir David Attenborough launched an appeal for his long-time friend and colleague, Chris Parsons, who is now commemorated in the Christopher Parsons Reserve, high in the Andes, near one of the most westerly sources of the Amazon River. The late Chris Parsons was the Producer of Life on Earth, the first of Sir David Attenborough's monumental series of wildlife programmes, as well as being a Trustee of the World Land Trust.
