This project would fundamentally be the prevention of accidents within the home such as falls prevention. It will cover risk assessment for service users showing them how to realise the dangers, how to prevent accidents and falls. It will also incorporate home security and burglary prevention and will look at allaying fears of burglary and theft as well as the practical side of installing fire alarms, security lighting, spy holes, door chains etc. This role will take a Holistic approach to safety and security within the home. It will cover home safety assessments, burglary prevention, risk assessments, falls prevention, benefits awareness, community awareness, trading standards (cold calling, bogus callers, nuisance phonecalls etc ), smoke alarm checks and other related organisations such as Care & Repair for home adaptations. It will strive to reduce crime and reduce admission to hospital because of an accident at home. A team of trained volunteers will carry out the home safety/security audits. These volunteers will be managed by a project officer who will be supported by an administrative officer.
