This campaign has now closed

Every year, hundreds of young people across Nottingham and the surrounding county stop being engaged through education, employment or training, and fall between the cracks, getting engaged in seriously negative activities. Our project will find those young people and put them back on the right track

Situation

There are around 1600 young people between the ages of 16 to 18 across Nottinghamshire at any one time who do not engage in either education, employment or training, including 600 in Nottingham city, but whose whereabouts are unknown. These young people should fall under the remit of Connexions, the careers and education advice agency, however, with recent funding cuts and decommissioning of services, young people do not receive adequate ongoing support and get involved in anti-social behaviour.

Solution

We have developed a young person's programme providing positive alternative educational activities using outdoor education and digital media. Our projects are designed with young people, ensuring activities are relevant and helping them to stay engaged – resulting in almost 70% of young people engaged gaining accreditation, and re-engage in education, volunteering and apprenticeships. The project will find and engage those 'not-known' young people by providing an appealing positive diversion.
