We need to train at least 150 new hearing dogs every year, as well as supporting nearly 900 existing hearing dog partnerships all over the country. We need £5000 to support every dog we train.

    Situation

If you give £5000 to Hearing Dogs to support an individual hearing dog, we will give you a framed photograph of the dog you have supported, and a history of the partnership between dog and person. We can give this at a special presentation with a hearing dog present, if you chose – and the person whose dog you have supported is given the opportunity to thank you directly for your support, if you wish. Some people who have ahearing dog prefer to remain anonymous, and others go on to build a close relationship with their supporter. In fact, £5000 does not cover the whole cost of supporting one dog’s lifetime partnership with a deaf person. The real cost is around £20,000. If you are able to donate more than £5000 towards a specific partnership it will come closer to the actual cost involved. You can choose a name for the dog if you wish – perhaps for a family member, or through an employee vote or a staff raffle, or to tie in with a brand. So it can be an attractive and worthwhile way to demonstrate direct support for our cause, while showing a strong link to a corporate identity if required. We are sometimes asked by donors if they can support a dog in a particular area of the country. Because we prioritise applicants on the basis of need, this may not always be possible, but if we can accommodate this wish of course we will.
