In addition to providing profoundly deaf adults with a hearing dog we also began a pioneering new project in 2008 to train hearing dogs with deaf children. This ground breaking project was set up to evaluate the impact that a hearing dog would have on the lives of deaf children.

Deaf children can face many challenges relating to their hearing loss, which can affect their social and emotional health and well-being. The project was established on the basis that placing a hearing dog with a deaf child could enhance aspects of the deaf child's social and emotional health and well-being. Each hearing dog will be placed with a deaf child belonging to a hearing family.
