Fathers are vital to young people's development. Yet the vast majority of parents contacting YoungMinds with concerns about their young people are mothers. So how do we engage fathers in this sensitive subject without either patronising or alianating them? In partnership with comedian John Ryan and The Leicester Comedy Festival, YoungMinds developed 'Those Young Minds', a comedy show about the trials and tribulations of being a dad. The intention is to discuss, in a lighthearted way, some of the issues faced by dads, and how to deal with them. The hope is that the show will engage with fathers and break through the isolation and hopelessness which they report when faced with problems experianced by their young people. Help us to get the mental health message out to more dads! As John Ryan says; 'If you can make them laugh, you can make them listen!'
