Situation

Over 400 million people around the world don’t have access to essential health services, many of them in sub-Saharan Africa where the resources are most needed; the region has the highest rates of child mortality where 1 in 9 children dies before age 5, more than 16 times the average for developed countries. Lack of medicines and equipment and a severe shortage of doctors and nurses means the world’s most disadvantaged people are missing out on even the most basic healthcare.

Solution

Inter Care will provide partner health units with vital medical aid, including medicines such as antibiotics, pain relief and anti-malarials, along with healthcare goods such as dressings, bandages, sterile gloves, small surgical instruments and health education materials. This aid will be used to provide free treatment to the most disadvantaged patients, including children, pregnant women and the elderly.
