Situation

Lack of medicines, equipment and a severe shortage of doctors and nurses means the most disadvantaged are missing out on even the most basic healthcare, leading to suffering and loss of life - the region bears 25% of the world’s disease burden but is home to just 3% of its doctors. Many patients live several days travel from their nearest health unit, so outreach clinics providing vital medical care must be equipped.

Solution

Many people in Africa are susceptible to disease and conditions, which are preventable or treatable with timely access to appropriate, affordable medicines and healthcare services. We will provide our partner health units with outreach rucksacks containing vital medical aid including antibiotics and pain relief, along with healthcare goods such as dressings, sterile gloves, syringes and needles.
