    Situation

Our exciting project is set against a backdrop of major cuts to the nation’s regional music services and urgent lack of capacity in providing young people with creative and meaningful musical opportunities. Access to high-quality music education is not universal in the UK: Anthem for a Child seeks to benefit those with the least access to professional live music. It also aims to address urgent issues in maintaining momentum in teaching practical music skills.

    Solution

Anthem for a Child will involve upwards of 7,000 children throughout the UK in 9 separate regional centres drawn from more than 60 primary and secondary schools during 2012. The centres are Plymouth, Exeter, Wiltshire, Southampton, Hastings, London, Suffolk, Chesterfield and York. OAE musicians support teachers and provide coaching for pupils to enable them to perform alongside the Orchestra set within concerts of Baroque and Classical music.
