    Situation

Battersea Dogs & Cats Home has nearly 150 years of expertise in animal welfare. In consultation with various departments within the Home including the veterinary clinic, behavior and rehoming, our main priority for the new cattery is to improve the comfort, health and well-being of our cats. The new cattery will provide: • New cat cabins (with access to individual runs) incorporating sneeze proof glass to reduce the spread of infection • A dedicated cat maternity for pregnant cats and cats with new born kittens •New socialising rooms •Observation rooms to test cat and dog interactions for those pets going to homes with existing dogs or cats •A new veterinary clinic with two operating tables •New rooms for socialising cats that need a little extra TLC; The new cattery will meet our ultimate goal of rehoming all of our cats to loving and caring new families. Improved Veterinary Surgical Facilities The new cattery will also feature a new state-of-the-art clinic area where vulnerable animals will receive the care they need. Sadly, a large number of the animals that arrive at the home are in a very sorry state. Many are elderly and in poor health, whilst an increasing number have been neglected or mistreated and require immediate veterinary care. With only one operating theatre at the London site many animals have to wait for treatment, or be treated off site. WELCOMING THE PUBLIC IS THE KEY TO REHOMING We allow a period of seven days for owners to reclaim for the animals we care for. Thereafter, our main purpose is to re-home pets. The new building will therefore have space to welcome the public and have significantly improved access to view the new residents.
