To celebrate our 25th year as a charity we are aiming to raise money to expand the Kidscape helpline for parents of children who are being bullied to enable us to reach and help more children and families. This will also include for the first time an email enquiry facility for those who are not comfortable or are unable to make a phone call and redevelopment of our website.

    Situation

Bullying is a problem in schools that is not going away. Kidscape does a lot of preventative work in schools with teachers and children but the helpline is being called on more and more by worried parents. Especially when they hear of a suicide because of bullying. Kidscape plan to expand their helpline by taking on more advisors, some of whom may be volunteers. This will vastly increase the number of parents that can be given advice. They will be advised on how to help their child and cope with the school as well as being made aware of the options they and their children have. The more parents and schools we reach, the less bullying will be allowed to continue. The problem may always be around but if it is handled correctly, it will be short lived in each individual case and reduce the incidents of suicide directly attributed to bullying.
