Our ZAP workshop is a lifesaver for severely bullied children—who self-harm, truant, attempt suicide--but can learn how to block their bullies. We want to extend our innovative techniques by all forms of technology to reinforce and carry forward these new behaviours.

    Situation

ZAP mixes assertiveness training with social skills, information, and zest for damaged children and parents frustrated with their inability to help. They leave with practical tools to use immediately. However, practice is crucial. There are differences in education, intake, and, as many of the children have special educational needs, understanding. We need ways to deliver this information via technology, for reinforcement and help with recovery.

    Solution

We want a variety of ways to teach children and parents, including how to stay safe in the tech world—we have had many children who have been targeted either through phones or on websites. Learning could be reinforced with video on line. Bullying is isolating, for parents and child, and we want to stay in touch with the families afterwards, perhaps through a closed facebook group. It would be wonderful to use internet tools to teach rather than torment.
