Provide an all-weather roof over Perdiswell Skate Park to increase usage and divert young people into positive activities and divert them from anti-social behaviour. The Skate Park opened two years ago and attracts 100+ young people daily weather permitting. Youth workers based in the adjoining youth lodge supervise and organise activities and signpost young people to various agencies. During wet weather, the Skate Park is too dangerous to use and the young people have nowhere to participate in their activity safely. This will be the first outdoor free access skate park that can be used all year round in Worcestershire.

Situation
The roof will match the skate lodge and main youth club building, and will be constructed using a portal frame design and curved rolled beam that will give it a lightweight feel. Roof lights will be installed to make use of natural day light, and low energy lighting will be used at night time. Young people have been actively involved throughout the planning process and the design of the roof, they have met with the steel construction engineers and the local planning officer on site. Planning permission was granted on 29th November 2006.
